Cacao is the raw, pure form of chocolate. This super food is believed to be the highest source of antioxidants of all foods. Since it’s so high in antioxidants, it’s an excellent go-to for healthy, beautifully glowing skin and hair. Cacao is known to nourish and repair hair and skin. Now, who wouldn’t want that!
Studies have shown that it also benefits your mood, nervous system, insulin levels and much more. Note that cacao and cocoa are not only different in spelling but in benefits too. For one, raw cacao powder is less processed than cocoa powder. Caution, do not exceed your intake to more than 2 tablespoons of cacao powder per serving and do not overdo it. I was quite jittery the first time I went wild with cacao. ¡Ay Caramba!
In my recipe, I don’t use cow’s milk but coconut cream and coconut water instead. Por qué? Porque … I’m loco for the coco =) I love cow’s milk but it’s said to reduce the antioxidant benefits of the cacao. Here’s my recipe:
Ingredients (Los ingredientes son)
1 large Banana, sliced (chilled)
1-2 tablespoons Raw Cacao Powder
Quarter cup Coconut Cream
2 cups Organic Coconut Water (chilled)
1 teaspoon Almond Butter
1 teaspoon Honey
Preparation (Preparación)
Simply add all the ingredients as listed above and whip up in a high-speed blender until smooth.
Y listo!
Pour over into a glass and get your glow on!
